There is a sentence that addicts rarely say out loud. You wouldn't understand.

Not because they don't want to be understood. Because they've tried. And watched the person opposite them nod politely, and say the right things, and still not quite get it.

Addiction isn't what most people picture. It isn't always chaos. Sometimes it's a Tuesday afternoon. A normal face. A normal life, from the outside.

But inside? A noise that doesn't stop. A pull toward something you hate yourself for wanting. A promise you made, again, that lasted three days this time instead of two.

> The mind of an addict is a complex design. Not broken. Not weak. Complex. Wired differently by something that hijacked the part of your brain that was only ever trying to feel okay.

And here's what matters. That wiring doesn't care who you are.

It doesn't care if you're a man or a woman. Young or old. Lagos or London. Successful or struggling. Gambling, alcohol, pornography, social media. The substance changes. The feeling doesn't.

That's why recovery has to be built the same way.

Not for a stereotype. For every mind.
